PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS

Hello hockey fans across Canada, the United States and Newfoundland, it that time of year again when the hockey pundits put their knowledge to the test to see how well they can see into the future.  Sparky here, and glad that PSR asked for my expert two cents worth on who will be dancing far into the night.  I was able to find my car flag for the Maple Leafs, and even though it may only fly for about a week, it was certainly ahead of schedule in the Shanyplan.  Well done!

So, based on the playoff bracket, there are a few teams that might get a fast track to the conference final, and others that may be shining the golf shoes far too soon based on a good regular season.  Let’s get started:

Round One:
In the West, I do not see any upsets in round one.
Hawks over Nashville
Minnesota over St Louis
Ducks over Flames (sorry – no battle of Alberta this year)
Oilers over Sharks

In the East, one possible upset…..
NYR over Habs (is that really an upset??  Maybe)
Ottawa over Boston
Caps over my Leafs (ouch)
Pitt over Columbus

Rounds Two and Three

West:
Chicago over The Wild
Oilers over the Ducks
Black Hawks over Oilers to reach the final!

East:
NYR over Ottawa
Caps over Pitt

Caps over NYR to reach the final (finally) in the OV era.

Chicago vs Washington for Lord Stanley’s Cup.  This could go 7 games.
